  • Drawing

    Students begin with the history of drawing and acquire a sequental approach to skill building through a voriety of drawing media. Working with the concepts of contour, proportion, and value students students develop direct observational skills to better understand and capture the dynamics of light and shadow to convey form.

  • Painting

    Students explore various media from wash, watercolor, acrylic and grisaille painting techniques. The ability to draw is fundamental to painting and a classical approach to applying the medium. Students are provided the fundamentals, yet provided freedom to explore creative and expressive methods of art making using the mediu of paint.

  • Ceramics

    Students study the fundamntals of ceramics exploring a variety of hand building techniques. Students work is inspired by historical and cultural approaches to ceramic building. The importance of idea development is emphasized throught envisioning their desired outcome in sketches fully exploring the desired form in the round. A variety of surface applications and techniques are explored.
